Good and Bad Experience at OBDexpress.co.uk

Here are unbiased reviews of good and bad experience with Chinese companies for selling tool.

Here you go.

I have made good experiences with buying over Sites like obdexpress.co.uk because if you have some Trouble they help you at least to get your money back. You also can give feedback about sellers.

2 obdexpress.co.uk: good

3 gocardiag.com: good
For me good seller > http://gocardiag.com and good price

4 aliexpress.com: good
I took a lot of devices here http://www.aliexpress.com Good quality.

5 obdexpress.co.uk: good
http://www.obdexpress.co.uk/ is a good place,i have bought 5-6 devices recently and I have cancel one order before it was shipped returned 1 order without too much of a hassle.Of course price for shipping back is outrageous, but that is well known.
And as Meroteki said, only problems with the clones. As good as the OPS,ICOM and Merecdes multiplexers work(most of them),the various programmers vary from bad to acceptable.
Smart companies(Carprog) give you the option to legalise your clone,or buy the software and the multiplexer only and get the adapters from China.Xprog dont want to sell you the box only and the soft, full package only for 3000 Euro.
EDIT:Now I remembered when i started buying first GT1 clones 6-7 years ago. They were in excess of $1000 and the sellers accepted only WU or wire transfer. If you get lucky it works right out of the box,but no more than a month.Sometimes none.If you send it back for repair,if you are lucky it gets returned as non-deliverable.Sometimes you dont see it ever again.
If there were not the clones, now the prices of everything would have been outrageous and most of the stuff would have been untouchable for the normal people like us.So,the truth is somewhere out there……..

6aliexpress: bad
I buy many times stuff from aliexpress, but the last time I ordered a carprog full and clearly spoke with the seller that i wanted singapore post for shipping.
It arrived with DHL and had to pay the import taxes. The worst of all is that the carprog doesn’t work at all. I only reads opel pin via k-line….

7 ibuyobd2.co.uk: good
I bought the Bluetooth 2013.03 Delphi DS150E CDP Pro Diagnostic tool from http://www.ibuyobd2.co.uk/. All fine with the exception of it being mailed directly from China.
I had to pay U.K. import tax which was not mentioned anywhere so be warned. Bluetooth & USB mode work perfectly. Quick dispatch & good comms. from seller.

8eobdtool.com: fine
Bought autocom from eobdtool.com. The main board was not as advertised (no chockes installed despite being shown in pictures). Apart from that it works fine.

9aliexpress.com: bad
A friend of mine bought what he was thinking a full vas 5054a with AMB2300 bluetooth from
Company Name: chen xing
Country/Region: China (Mainland)
Website: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1971982

10obd2toolz.com: bad
Very bad service
http://obd2toolz.com/index.php?route=pro…arch=SD+C4
thid item 5set all wifi card not work and to much heat
after them recive money need police to get back or them send goods them know its bad or damage and say shipping back after that factory not agree replace and no moneyback

11xcar360: bad
My recent .. first and last buying from xcar360 with a faulty xprog 5.0. I ordered this one because it’s old and proved to be stable. However i received totally not working xprog. I opened it to see what surprises are inside. I haven’t seen so bad soldering by now. Requested paypal claim immediately and I was refunded by paypal, not the seller. The seller even didn’t give me the address where to ship it back and I had to search tough mail conversation. I paid for DHL shiping becasue I needed it to do something urgency, but also lied me in the beginning of my order. They dispatched the package 2 weeks after purchase. When I saw the date when DHL has picked up the package, they told me that they had problems with system.
I don’t recommend to anyone buying from xcar360.

12obdbox.com: bad
I have a very bad experience with http://www.obdbox.com
Very bad seller, very bad service, liar He try to robbed me, actually Dispute is opened with paypal.
Don’t buy from him

13obdexpress.co.uk: good
I have bought this : http://www.obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/ford-vcm-ii-diagnostic-tool-wifi-card.html and they sent what was advertised. I have done module programming on 10+ cars (both PWM and CANbus) and every time without any issues. And I will do programming 100% as original

14uobd2.net: good
Uobd2.net are good

15obdexpress.co.uk: good
Here is a SP177 version with wifi , I have bought the same without wifi 1 month ago and it can do programming and everything a genuine VCM2 can link : http://www.obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/best-ford-vcm-ii-diagnostic-tool-wifi-wireless-version.html

16 when we buy things from China, you should know
  1. There is a seller can get 100% satisfication from customers, neither Chinese seller nor sellers from other places like the States, EU, etc. It’s normal to see happiness and unhappiness from users.
    2. In my experience, I think is more of different culture and language barrier that cause a conflict.
    3. First we must acknowledge that we are buying a clone products, so dont put too high expectation on quality.
    4. When products break down, is really pain in the neck. I believe that they too dont want it to happen. Cos they too have to pay for the tools to return after repair.
5.Of course there are some possibilities of some unethical seller out there to sucks our money but I personally felt is very rare. Chinese are ambitious people, they want big money wont after so small amount of money like few hundred USD. These cheater wont go far, so unlikely have such seller out there.
    6. If you put yourself in seller shoe, you also worried seller make a fast one on the product. Buyer spoilt the products due to improper handling. Or make a invalid or unreasonably claim. Probably the company have to fork out to remedy the damage. In another words, they may have their own difficulties which we as a buyer dont see it.
    7. Another common problem is over boostful on the products, these are commonly seen. just be more careful before payment. Most importantly is the products works and not the description.
    8. Is very common when you ask them anything, they will tell you “YES! CORRECT”. In actual case they dont even know what you are asking. They are weak in english! The best way to resolve this issue is by sending photo to verify. Photo is definitely better than thousands of words.
    9. Unless you can speak mandarin or their lingual, if not you will have language barrier between them.
    10. The person you talk to is just a low salary salesman or salesgirls. They may not have very strong products knowledge. These people turn over rate is very high. Example you walk into the big department store and ask the salesgirls on some products, they too look lost.
    11. Give them some patient and dont be too harsh on them and be nice , I believe they will help you. In return if someone speak rudely and harsh on you, will you help that person? “Courtesy is the best way for you and Me!” these is Singapore slogan.
    12. Misunderstanding is the main culprit in this topic. Hope mine explanation can help to resolve the 13. unhappiness to all buyers.
Clones is always CLONES, dont have high expectation on it, so you wont fell bad which it break down.
  2. Happy buying.

How to setup mini vci with Techstream on 64bit computer

Just received Techstream cable last night and installed the software on my 64 bit computer. Installation was not plug and play, but it is quite doable.
Since I am expecting to use Techstream quite a bit, I thought I would start a thread. For future Techstream users, here are the instructions I used to get the software connected to my vehicle for the 64 bit application:
TIS Techstream V10 Setup Instruction ( !!! for 64 bit system !!! ) :
1. copy ” Program Files (x86) ” folder to drive C:\ , tick ” replace all current items ”
2. plug the Mini VCI cable into USB
3. Open the Device Manager and locate two failing devices in the list. Both will appear with yellow icon (usually under ”Other”), indicating that Windows failed to install drivers for them. Now, right click each failing device, select Install Driver, then ”Browse my Computer” and locate to “C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS” (enable the ”include subfolders” flag). Click ”Next” and wait until drivers are installed.
You should now see two new devices: ”Universal Serial Bus Controllers\USB Serial Converte” and ”Ports (COM & LPT)\USB Serial Port (COMx)”.
4. Run the FirmwareUpdateTool.exe from the “C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS”. Click ”Device Info”, You should see the ”Device connected” screen.
5. Now install Techstream software using “Techstream_Setup_V10.10.018.exe” on our software CD
6. Software Registration: copy the two *.ini files in ”Registration” folder to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env\
* Attention: It’s C:\Program Files (x86) not C:\Program Files\ , BIG DIFFERENCE !!!
7. Registry Hack: Run the mvci-64bit.reg file to modify the registry for Techstream to recognize MINI-VCI under Windows x64
8. Run Techstream software. Go to Setup | VIM Select menu and select the ”XHorse – MVCI”
11. Connect Mini VCI cable to your car‘s OBDII interface, turn ignition on, then click ”Connect to Vehicle” in Techstream. Wait. Then wait again. If everything works, you will be prompted to confirm car year/model after which you’ll get to the diagnostic interface.
* Important Note:
1. DO NOT change the “User Type” when you will run your TIS Techstream for 1st time! LEAVE IT with the Default option! “Official” Dealer/Repairer with other words…
2. in [ VIM Select ] option, please select the [ Xhorse – MVCI ], not [ TIS Techstream VIM ]
3. If you get the following reminder while using the program:
—————————————————————-
Register Techstream Software (S314-03)
Network connection is unavailable. A network connection is required to use Techstream software.
You can only connect 29 more times without a network connection before software registration is required.
—————————————————————
You can reset that as following steps:
Go to C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env and find ”IT3usercustom.ini” file and look for ”Connectioncount=1” or what ever number of times you tried and just delete ”connectioncount=1”. Click save and you should be reseted back to 30

How to Program a New Key for Passat B7

I lost my Passat key on my driveway house…
I’ve been searching about for a good new one few days, but info regarding programs/equipment needed to get the SKC and program a new key is very sketchy, has any idea or any tools to program a new key for a B7 Passat?

Solution 1: call a reputable local auto locksmith and get it done
An easy way but may charged you a big ton of money is to go to a local auto locksmith and get it done, never mind the dealers. But the cons is that if you lost the key again……
If you try this on your own.. You will mess up dash or else a big bill this is not a 5 minutes job needs proper tools or pay the price.
Solution 2: Use VCDS
It’s a lot more complicated for this generation of Immo… You’re getting into Component Protection…trying to find missing bytes from modules in the car…you are supposed to be able to solder well. Besides, vag machanics dont even see the codes now as its all online now with vag license.
Solution 3: VXDIAG VCX NANO 5054 ODIS V3.03
A replacement of vas 5054a unit, if you have Geko access it will be working too, but not worth neither

For the locksmiths, the well-known Xhorse VVDI2 is the update version of VVDI, it update frequently. More importantly, the Xhorse engineers are always there to listen to users’ feedback and tried to fix the bug and add new functions.

How to solve Honda HIM HDS not connected to car

So I have one of those chinese HDS clones and Racy Jace was due to pop over yesterday afternoon, so I wanted to be sure I could get my Honda HDS HIM
connected to my Accord before Jace got there.
Unfortunately this didn't happen, no matter what I tried, the darn thing would not connect, now I have always had trouble getting it connected up and its just a pain in the back side. I failed to get the thing working in time for Jace visit to my place.
After Jace left, I thought I have another go, order of connecting things up seems very important with these things, so I went shopping for them.
He confirmed that I seem to be doing everything right, connected HDS to Com port of PC (make sure it's COM1), power on HIM (the actual box - Honda Interface Module), switch on ignition, start up HDS (Honda Diagnostic Software), click on connect, when it tells you to, plugin the OBD connector and voila it should work.
Nope still not connecting !! So I carry on messing about, try differing combos of powering it and connecting it without any joy. DD suggested that CJs theory is physical comm ports won't work and you need a particular type of USB-serial-COM port cable with specific Prolific USB drivers. Now I do actually have this cable and those drivers installed but had no clue where the USB serial cable would be.
With the combos exhausted and with me now getting annoyed I thought I try something different, on the HDS software there is a Self Test mode but to do this self test you need the loop back dongle plugged into the end of the OBD connector, and the chances of finding that somewhere were slim. Another option was to update the firmware on the HIM. So I thought lets try that, so I try it and it asks to press the button on the HDS for a few second, I press the button and hey presto it starts updating the HIM firmware.
Great, so its not got any issues with com ports, that part is working just fine. It then came flooding back to me, last time I used my HIM I remember suspecting that there was either a break in the OBD wire that comes out of the HIM or a connection/circuit issue on my HIM that was causing it not to be able to talk to the car.
So this time I decided to take it apart and have a look inside, this is what I was immediately greeted with :-
These are the solder pins for the OBD wire
Honda HIM HDS pcb

These are the pins of the connector that connects the top and bottom boards together
Honda HIM HDS pcb

Now both sets of solder joints were looking in a right sorry state, mostly rather dull looking, these could be referred to as dud solder or cold solder joint, which could result in giving bad electrical connection.
So what they needed was to be reflowed but there were a lot of them and do properly them one at a time would a real ball ache.
So what I did was take my gas soldering iron, remove the solder tip and use it with a naked flame and just heat up all the joints.
Here's the result :-

Actually those pictures aren't that great but the end result was that all the solder joints looked much much better, they all now had a shiny look to them rather than a dull look.
