Used cars Odometer tampering

Many years ago a friend of mine wanted to wind back the clock on an old mark 3 Cortina. He took the clock out of the instrument panel and he noticed a piece of masking tape stuck on the back. On this tape someone had written “oh no, not again!” – we really found that hilarious!

I have worked for the one biggest car diagnostic manufactures (manufactured the dealer tools for companies such as Mercedes, BMW, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Mitsubishi, Fiat etc) for 5 years.

On cars with digital odometers it is relatively easy to change the mileage through the OBD port with a special cable and software.

Some vehicles like BMW for instance, store mileage data in more than one of the vehicles ECUs as well as on both keys. This is therefore easy for the dealer to detect, with the key reader or the diagnostic tool.

Other ways, you can use odometer correction tools (V4.94 Digiprog 3 or Original Yanhua Digimaster 3) to change the mileage and no trace is kept.

For odometer tampering on used cars, the official dealers will tell you that odometer resetting is unfortunately happening with the less reputed car dealers. An official agent is not willingly risking their reputation and relation with the vendor by playing around with odometer settings, or supporting it by selling a car blindly that had the meter reading changed by someone.

Mileage Correction Tool Digimaster 18 User Manual

DigiMaster 18 (DM 18) is a programming machine with multifunction which can connect
computer through the USB access. Apart from the ordinary functions,there are special
models function:
1)odometer correction : It is for correcting the mileage of the odometer (identify
the data stored in the chip and analyze the data rule of them automatically). Repair the
problem of the odometer & Coding the new odometer .
2).Universal Programmer: used when program and modify on the EEPROM with no
more than 16 architraves.
3).Decoding Audio: this function module is designed for all kinds of audio with digital
code. You can decode the original code when the original code is missed.
4).Restore the airbag: this function module is designed for restoring the data of the airbag
after the traffic accident.
5).Computer decoding: used to read the immobilizer of VW/ Audi.
6).Signal generator: used to generate signal in different frequency of all kinds of sensors

Here is a user guide how to use DM 18 correcting the mileage of the odometer

“Zoom In” to see the information of the odometer. then click next step.

1) confirm the original mileage
If the DigiMaster read the mileage is different from the original mileage in your vehicle, please do
not go to next step, you should back to the first step and check whether you selected the correct type
for the vehicle.
2) Arithmetic error
When you see the prompt “Arithmetic error”, you should back to the first step and check whether
you selected the correct type for the vehicle.
3) Change IC for adjusting odometer
If you need to use a new IC to adjust odometer, please change a new IC when you write the new
data, and do the write data operation two times. (It means you write the data successfully on first
time, then write one more time to confirm it.)
4) Two kinds of the mistake when correcting the odometer.
1. Error information occures when writing the chip.
Maybe :Chip type is not match.
Putting chip into wrong position.
2 .Finish writing operation. But mileage isn’t that you want or the odometer cannot
work normally .
Maybe: Chip isn’t soldering well.
Type of odometer you select is wrong.
If occur any kinds of these mistake, please resume the original data of odometer first.

Four: Resume original data
This operation will apply to:
1. Lose the original data or exist errors after modified mileage.
2. Match mileage data for the new odometer.

NOTE:

For the new car :If you can’t find the car in the software. You can
deal with it by yourself by “Auto Analyzed” or you can connect with
the obd2exress.co.uk  by mail or skype

Change Bluetooth voice control language with NCS Expert

Here’s my story of voice recognition language change after the new MULF Bluetooth module installation:

Before I even start, people, don’t use SSS/progman for anything, the software is a joke. Winkfp, ncsexpert are much better alternatives.

I have a 2006 325i Sedan.. My bluetooth module died (Non i-drive car) . I used realoem found the part I need, ordered it etc etc Fitted the part everything was good, except when I pressed voice recognition it started talking to me in German. But I don’t speak German. Need to change the language

I looked through countless threads with everyone saying, this can’t be done, bimmernav ripped them off blah blah etc. To this today, I though it was over and I would just have to get use to it in German.

But then

I thought I would give NCS Expert one more go since, I updated a lot of files from V41 daten stuff. Anyways this time I clicked on the MULF module, dumped the TRC file, opened the TRC file and guess what is the first line.

For those of you reading this that are going how do you setup NCS expert and use it. I really can’t help. I’m ultra noob at it as I just started using it and I had to keep flicking back and forth through the doco as I was doing this.

BUT THE MAIN POINT IS:
IT CAN BE DONE :)))))))))))))))))))

Also it would be great if someone could have a look and tell me what any of these other options are as I don’t speak German

Then i need to syncronize the phonebook contacts.

Contacts currecntly are not syncing to the car. When people call their names come up and last dialed also names come up so it was getting the information but not displaying in the phonebook. All you could see was a directory of letters with no names.
CONTACT_LIST_C12 to aktiv fixed my issue.

Using ncs expert, selected the MULF module I installed about two years ago (I believe it has software from 2008 though). I re-encoded the car:

change the command SYNCML to aktiv

change CONTACT_LIST_C12 to aktiv

I don’t know if the SYNCML needed to be enabled as well. But they are both enabled now and all my contacts from an Iphone 5s have downloaded to the car.

Review on Xhorse VVDI2 & BMW mini 2012 CAS3+

i have mini 2012 lost key CAS3+ tried on vvdi2 key programmer.

everything went ok

got ISN from DME and also EEPROM from CAS

and remote programmed successfully

but car did not start i did one fault once the vvdi tool asked me whether the car has been started or no i said yes and car has not started yet i thought maybe because of the low battery but i gave power to the battery and tried no joy remote functioning but a yellow key shown on cluster

Then i was advised to try to select blank key position with 7953 transponder, via ISN method to make key.

And I really did new fresh programming of the key and the car starts
